Q and A with Giants GM Brian Sabean

Sebean

This one has me concerned: give him position and leave him alone... he is our best position player and you want F around with him...

Which position will Pablo Sandoval play long-term?

A: At this point in time, he's our third baseman. What happens down the line is up to him. But he has to be open to what our needs are. He also could be above-average at catcher or first base. You watch him move around, it belies his look. He's pretty athletic, quick for his body type.

Hell does it really matter.......? he is the only guy who hits for decent power on the team. 3b or 1B what's the difference? I prefer his arm at 3b. It would mak a difference if we would bring up Posey(why are w waiting...check his stats now in Fresno) and dump whiteside. I say this due to fact that we bring the kids up and get panda on a training regiment and 3b would be the place for him.

Agree with SanDiego. It doesn't matter what position he plays.
The fact that Pablo can play 3b or 1b gives the Giants flexibility in the trade and FA market. I would prefer Pablo at 3b but if we could get a solid third baseman and move Panda to 1b that would be fine. We just need somone who can actually hit and play defense. (unlike someone we just traded for with initials RG)
