SAN FRANCISCO — When Ron Wotus announced late in the 2021 MLB season that it would be his last as a full-time coach, he didn’t call it retirement. That proved to be the right decision.For the second time since that season, Wotus has been pulled back into the dugout by a new Giants manager. This time it’s Tony Vitello, who has leaned on Wotus since taking the job in October and will have him in the dugout for all home games this season, and possibly some road trips. “You know, it makes us a better club,” Vitello said after Wednesday’s game. “In my opinion, if he’s in there, it makes it a more fun time, too, to be honest with you — unless you’re losing 7-0.“He’s a big part of this organization and I think he wants to see it be where he wants it to be.”Vitello said he thought Wotus might have gotten the itch again when he was on Italy’s staff for their surprise run through this year’s World Baseball Classic.
