SAN FRANCISCO — If you picked up a schedule last week and looked ahead, it wouldn’t have been hard to picture the Giants being 10 games out in the NL West by the end of this series with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Instead, they’re surging, and providing a reminder of just how much can change week to week over a long season. The Giants won 3-0 on Wednesday to clinch a series victory, getting huge contributions from two players off to incredibly slow starts. They’ll go for the sweep on Thursday behind Logan Webb. Tyler Mahle and Shohei Ohtani had one of the best duels in MLB this season, and the game was scoreless when turned over to the bullpens. Jung Hoo Lee led off the seventh with a single off Dodgers reliever Jack Dreyer, and Heliot Ramos followed with a single. That led to a fascinating sequence.
