The travel following that moment is often overlooked.As the Giants open a three-game series in Tampa against the Rays on Friday, Willy Adames caught up with NBC Sports Bay Area’s Kylen Mills to reminisce on the morning of his MLB debut nearly eight years ago.“That was a crazy day, to be honest,” Adames told Mills. “I missed my first flight, and I almost missed the game. It was a crazy day.”Adames spent the first four years of his career in Tampa Bay, where he hit .254 with 43 home runs. It all started on May 22, 2018, against the Boston Red Sox, but Adames was in Gwinnett, Georgia, with the Triple-A Durham Bulls earlier that morning.“So we were in Gwinnett,” Adames continued. “We were in Atlanta, and that was a getaway day. So I was packing my stuff, and the manager came to the hotel. I was shirtless, and I opened the door, and he’s like, ‘We gotta go.
