SAN FRANCISCO — What appeared to be a relatively straightforward two-city trip turned into a very, very long week on the East Coast for the Giants. There were rain delays and extra-inning games. There were not, however, any wins. The Giants got walked off for the third time in four days on Sunday and lost 2-1 to the Tampa Bay Rays in 10 innings.The 0-6 trip was their first winless two-city trip since July of 2022, and while there were walk-offs and some close games, it wasn’t particularly competitive overall. They were outscored 26-9 over the six games and scored one or zero runs four times. Tyler Mahle gave the Giants exactly what they needed on the mound and Casey Schmitt provided an early lead with another timely hit.
