LOS ANGELES — Shohei Ohtani hit 100.6 mph on a pitch to Bryce Eldridge in the first inning Wednesday. He struck out eight Giants overall, lowering his ERA on the season to 0.82 and his ERA against the rival to 0.32. When the Giants fell behind 4-0 on Wednesday night, there were not a whole lot of avenues to a win over Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers. It’s not accurate to say the loss came because of one baserunning mistake, but given where the team is right now, and given the way the player in question has been hitting over the season’s first two months, the mistake certainly stood out.With one out in the seventh, the Giants got back-to-back singles from Willy Adames and Matt Chapman. It felt like the first time in a month that that particular sequence had been seen, and Drew Gilbert followed with a deep drive to left-center. Andy Pages ran it down, and when he looked up, Adames was rounding third.
