WEST SACRAMENTO – When he stepped to the plate in the ninth inning Friday, Luis Arraez was completely unaware that he needed a triple to complete his second career cycle.“I forgot,” Arraez said sheepishly after the Giants’ 5-2 loss to the Athletics in Sacramento on Friday. “I just tried to put the ball in play. (Facing) a fairly good pitcher, and he’s got really good stuff. I just tried to put the ball in play.”Arraez did that, singling off A’s reliever Hogan Harris for his season-high fourth hit of the night. Not enough for his first cycle since April 11, 2023, but good enough to keep him on a roll at the plate.Like he has been to almost every team he’s faced this season, Arraez was a nightmare for A’s pitching in the series opener at Sutter Health Park. After flying out in his first at-bat of the night, Arraez jump-started the Giants’ offense with a leadoff home run in the fourth inning. It was Arraez’s first home run of the 2026 MLB season. Luis Arráez goes yard for the first time this season pic.twitter.com/oerxptS7f1 — SF Giants on NBCS (@NBCSGiants) May 16, 2026...
