There has been much conversation about how often — or how little — top prospect Bryce Eldridge is in the Giants’ starting lineup since his call-up on May 4.But even though the young slugger has been caught off guard by his lack of playing time for the struggling MLB club, Eldridge is keeping a positive mindset as he works his way toward more reps.“I guess I’m surprised,’’ Eldridge told Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday, “but it’s not my decision. It is what it is. You can argue every day that playing every day would be helpful, but I’m happy to be here.“Obviously, it’s a little bit different, but this is where I’ve always wanted to be. I’ve just got to continue to earn my stripes here.’’Eldridge has started nine games since joining the big league roster — including Wednesday’s 6-3 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field, during which he smoked the Giants’ hardest-hit ball of the 2026 MLB season with an RBI double to center field.
