SAN FRANCISCO — The best game of Victor Bericoto’s career was played with a heavy heart. The morning after his walk-off home run against the Athletics, Bericoto said he took the field Wednesday knowing that his relatives and friends in Venezuela were dealing with the aftermath of two powerful earthquakes, but he didn’t realize quite how extensive the damage was until after the win. Bericoto found out overnight that his brother’s girlfriend was among those who had been killed in the earthquakes.“It’s really sad to see what’s going on in my country,” Bericoto said. “You’re seeing entire families lose their homes, lose loved ones, lose everything that they had. It’s really sad to be so far away and not be able to do anything for them. The message that I could send to them is that we’re with them, our prayers are with them, and we’re just hoping that things get better for them over there.”The 24-year-old is one of three Venezuelan players on the roster, along with second baseman Luis Arráez and reliever José Butto.
