SAN FRANCISCO — Heliot Ramos prevented the Giants from being on the wrong side of history Wednesday, but there was no reason for San Francisco to celebrate after a 10-0 shutout loss.Toronto Blue Jays ace Dylan Cease was three outs away from tossing the first no-hitter by an opponent at Oracle Park, but Ramos’ single to center to lead off the ninth inning gave the Giants their first hit of the game — and a save from utter humiliation of what manager Tony Vitello described postgame as a “low point” of the season.
“Yeah, I broke a no-hitter, but at the end of the day, we lost,” Ramos said after the loss. “It was a really bad loss. I think we should have done a better job attacking the zone, being aggressive, but at the end of the day, he’s a really good pitcher. He had it going on. He just got too comfy. He ripped a couple of fastballs on me, and that’s when I took my chance, but I mean, I tip my cap to him. He’s really good.”
