SAN FRANCISCO — At some point in the coming weeks, the Giants will bring Jackson Flora to Oracle Park for the usual post-draft activities. He’ll walk through the clubhouse for the first time, meet with the media and take in a game in the owner’s box.And then he might be given a choice: Fuku or Organic Coup?
In addition to being the top pitcher in this year’s draft and now a prospect for his hometown team, Flora is a fried chicken sandwich aficionado. In high school, he started ranking them in his head, and then the process became more formal.
“It was my favorite food whenever I would go out to a restaurant. I would immediately check the menu to see if they had fried chicken sandwiches there,” Flora said on a call with beat writers Saturday. “I would try and remember which ones were the best and I was like, why don’t I just write this down and have a list of which ones I like, so when I want a fried chicken sandwich, I can go out and get one.”
