SAN FRANCISCO — When Michael Holmes finally emerged from meetings on Friday afternoon and got some fresh air, he was instantly surrounded by reminders of past drafts. As the Giants’ director of amateur scouting sat in the dugout, Bryce Eldridge (first round, 2023) and Casey Schmitt (second round, 2020) took batting practice. In the outfield, Trevor McDonald (11th round, 2019) and Landen Roupp (12th round, 2021) went through preparations for their next starts. Holmes has been leading the draft effort at Oracle Park since 2019, and while there have been some misses, the Giants now are seeing a lot of his players start to work through the system. A few hours before the start of this year’s draft, Gavin Kilen (first round, 2025) and Dakota Jordan (fourth round, 2024) were informed they’re headed for Double-A. Undrafted free agent Bo Davidson is moving up to Triple-A.

From a position player standpoint, the leaders of the pack right now are Eldridge and Schmitt, but more are on the way.
