BOX SCORESEATTLE — After a surprisingly stressful first half, Tony Vitello spent his All-Star break in Cabo. When he returned, he was all smiles, and he had a message for the rest of a relaxed Giants clubhouse.

“You can make every day Opening Day if you want to,” Vitello said Friday afternoon.

The manager was hoping for a fresh vibe, and the second half opener certainly looked different than just about all of the first half.

The Giants got a big homer from Bryce Eldridge and then broke it open on Willy Adames‘ grand slam, backing a strong effort from Landen Roupp, who didn’t allow a run in his first appearance in 11 days. The 7-0 win over the Seattle Mariners was their third straight.

Roupp was dominant, but Bryce Miller was just as good on the other side early in the game. Eldridge broke up the shutout in the fifth, crushing a two-run blast over the wall in center.

The Giants (42-55) loaded the bases in the sixth and again in the seventh. Adames finally broke the game open, crushing a 106 mph shot to right-center. The slam was Adames’ second of the season and the eighth...
