SEATTLE — When the topic of momentum came up after Saturday’s game, Giants manager Tony Vitello turned philosophical. Vitello talked of “stacking positives on top of positives” and “remaining confident” day to day. Sometimes, though, you simply need to stack wins, and the 2026 Giants are historically incapable of doing that.
For the first time in franchise history, they’re through 98 games without a single four-game winning streak. They’re 0-6 when searching for a fourth straight, the latest loss coming in walk-off fashion against the Seattle Mariners.
Vitello tried to keep the focus on this game, which seemed won when Logan Webb was given a 3-0 lead on a night when he made just one mistake. He hasn’t dug too deep into the overall numbers and reasons for the lack of momentum.
“I don’t know off-hand what these six games are or if there’s any commonality there,” Vitello said.
There is a common theme, though. In the six opportunities to win a fourth straight game, the Giants have scored just 10 total runs.
