SAN FRANCISCO — There has been chatter all season about Rafael Devers. On the field and off the field.That only has increased with the 2026 MLB trade deadline around the corner.
Still, Devers’ mindset has remained the same throughout the ups and downs of the season: Control what you can control.
“We’re aware that the record is not very positive,” Devers said via team interpreter Erwin Higueros after the Giants’ 9-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday. “As far as adjustments that maybe the front office is going to make is something that I don’t think about. It’s something that they’re going to have to do.
“But we’re just concentrating on what we can control.”
That self-concentration has paid off massively for Devers as of late.
He is up to 22 home runs and 60 RBI on the season, both of which lead all Giants batters.
Devers has knocked three homers since the All-Star break and, in all facets of the game, has looked like a much different player since May.
