What we learned as Landen Roupp, Giants’ offense sputter in loss to Brewers

SAN FRANCISCO – A day that began with the loss of their most influential player this season ended with a Giant thud at Oracle Park on Tuesday night.

Hours after placing do-it-all player Casey Schmitt on the 10-day injured list with a torn left meniscus, the Giants absorbed another gut-punch when their offense got put on mute during an 8-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Giants had seven hits during the game, with two coming in the first inning — including a high infield pop-up that should have been caught but instead fell in safely between a pair of Brewers defenders.

It was that type of night at Oracle Park.
