SAN FRANCISCO – Landen Roupp wouldn’t bite at the question.After an uncharacteristic off night Tuesday that set the tone for the Giants’ 7-2 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers in a game in which most of the damage was self-inflicted, the 27-year-old right-hander was asked whether it would be easier to handle getting lit up by the Brewers instead of gifting them so much.

Making it an even more bitter pill to swallow was that 10 of the Brewers 13 hits were singles. They just nickel and dimed the Giants all night.
Roupp, however, wasn’t buying into anything other than he didn’t pitch as well as he has been. Neither scenario – being lit up or offering up multiple free passes – was good enough to make this night any better.
“I’d rather not either,” Roupp told reporters at Oracle Park. “I’d rather pitch well and give the guys a chance to win. Just was not good tonight.”
Roupp’s night actually wasn’t as bad as he thought.
