SAN FRANCISCO — Logan Webb said what Daniel Susac, the Giants and their fans have been thinking after the rookie catcher cashed in his first MLB home run on Wednesday.“It’s about time.”
Susac himself admitted after San Francisco’s 16-3 blowout win against the Milwaukee Brewers that his home run drought was beginning to weigh on him. But eventually he knew his time would come.
That time was Wednesday.
On a day when the Giants’ offense scored a whopping 16 runs, Susac still stole the show with not just his first big-league homer, but also hitting a second six innings later.
While he credits the work he’s put in with Giants hitting coach Hunter Mense and assistant hitting coach Oscar Bernard, his nephew might deserve all the praise. Susac revealed that his nephew has been to two of his MLB games thus far. The first one was on April 2 against the New York Mets, just Susac’s second MLB game and first at Oracle Park.
With his entire family in attendance, Susac had a record night, recording his first MLB hit and then going 3-for-3 at the plate.
