The Giants’ offense, in stride with the rest of the team, has struggled mightily in an all-around disappointing 2026 season. They have scored three or fewer runs in 63 of their 108 games this season, the most in MLB.However, their 4.23 runs per game is 21st in MLB. Despite the offense’s struggles with consistency, they are prone to outbursts of lots of runs in a single game. On Wednesday against the Milwaukee Brewers, the Giants scored 16 runs, their third time this season scoring at least that many runs — the most in MLB.
In Wednesday’s 16-3 win, the Giants also made history that has not been seen since the 19th century. According to OptaSTATS, the Giants are the first National League team since 1899 to score 16 or more runs in a game three times in a season while entering each game bottom-five in MLB in runs per game.
The last team to do it? The Louisville Colonels, of course. The Giants have scored 16+ runs on a day they entered in the bottom-5 in MLB in runs/game for the 3rd time this season in today's win.
They are the first NL team to do so 3 times in a single season since the Louisville Colonels in 1899....
