One of the Giants’ very few homegrown star position players is on the move.San Francisco traded outfielder Heliot Ramos to the New York Yankees on Monday, the team announced after ESPN’s Jeff Passan first reported the two teams were finalizing a deal.
The Giants received left-handed pitching prospect Henry Lalane and infielder Kaeden Kent, the son of San Francisco Hall of Famer Jeff Kent, in the trade.
The 22-year-old LaLane, the Yankees’ No. 5 prospect according to MLB.com, combined to post a 2.77 ERA with 98 strikeouts and 26 walks across 78 innings in 16 appearances (15 starts) with New York’s Single- and High-A teams.
Kent, 22, is the Yankees’ No. 13 prospect, and in 76 games this season, batted .302/.359/.433 with six home runs, 43 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 321 at-bats in High-A.
