Two Bay Area sports greats crossed paths on the radio Monday, and it happened right as one star was handing the mic to the next.Mike Krukow was wrapping up his own segment on KNBR’s “Murph and Markus” when the hosts let him know who was walking in.
“While you were talking, one of the great linebackers in 49ers history just walked in and sat down next to us, so we’re going to let you go and go to Fred Warner,” Brian Murphy said. “You got anything to say to Fred Warner, Mike?”
Krukow used his final moment on-air to hand out a genuine compliment.
“Fred Warner can play baseball any day he wants to. One of the greatest athletes we ever saw,” Krukow said. “We saw him out on the yard last year, and everybody went, ‘My goodness, look at this guy’ – and he was hurt! I’m just so stoked he’s back this year. Fred, good luck to you and the Niners.
