The Giants were active at the MLB trade deadline, and while players must deal with traveling to a new city, meeting new teammates and coaches, their families can deal with just as much of a whirlwind when it comes to the rapidly moving world of professional sports.Heliot Ramos, who was traded to the Yankees before Monday’s deadline, explained to reporters how he had to calm his mother down after she became worried about the move.
“My mom was kind of scared because she doesn’t really know how the business works, but, I told her to, ‘Calm down, I’m going to be with the Yankees. I’m going to be fine.’ ” Ramos said Tuesday. “So, she loved them. My brother, Henry, he was drafted with the [Boston] Red Sox, he played with them. He loved it.
“He’s like, ‘I love that you’re in an organization that really cares about winning and that they’re here to win.’ So, that’s all he said to me. Like, he’s proud of me, obviously, and my mom, my dad, everybody’s just excited for me.” "I'm gonna be a New York Yankee! That's crazy!"...
