ARLINGTON, Texas — Eddys Leonard went deep into thought as he scanned the room. He was a Sacramento River Cat for only eight games before his surprising promotion, so there weren’t as many familiar faces as you might expect, but he noted that he had played with Osleivis Basabe before and also knew Reiver Sanmartin.As Leonard continued to talk to reporters, Sanmartin, sitting two lockers away in the Giants clubhouse, broke into a wide grin. He raised his hand.

“That’s me!” he said.

The Giants aren’t quite at the point where they need name tags, but you also couldn’t blame them if they at least went through a fresh round of introductions in the clubhouse.

The chaotic trade deadline sent six players elsewhere, and three other regulars — Matt Chapman, Casey Schmitt and Trevor McDonald — have either just had surgery or are considering it. That led to a lineup on Tuesday night in Arlington that would have been inconceivable a few months ago.
