It was a day of celebration at Oracle Park on Saturday as five dynasty heroes were inducted into the Giants Wall of Fame — but the good vibes didn’t continue for San Francisco once the game took place.The Giants fell to the Detroit Tigers 8-0 after what started as a classic pitchers’ duel between right-handers Landen Roupp and Jackson Jobe, who made his 2026 MLB debut after a 14-month absence following Tommy John surgery.
Things nearly went awry early as the Giants’ defense struggled in the second inning. The Tigers loaded the bases after Colt Keith drew a one-out walk, Spencer Torkelson reached on a soft ground ball back to Roupp, and then, left fielder Eddys Leonard overran a shallow fly ball hit by Max Clark.
But Roupp got out of it, coaxing back-to-back fly outs from the Tigers.
In the bottom of the second, Drew Gilbert was robbed of extra bases by Clark when the Tigers outfielder battled the sun and made a phenomenal catch on the warning track. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN…
