The Giants’ pitching and defense did their jobs on Sunday.Unfortunately for San Francisco, the offense did not hold up its end of the bargain in a 3-1 loss in 10 innings to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday at Oracle Park.

Zach McKinstry and Kevin McGonigle both singled via seeing-eye grounders to put runners on the corners with nobody out. Webb then induced a 6-4-3 double play from the next batter, Gleyber Torres, but that allowed McKinstry to score from third for the game’s first run.
Earlier, the Giants had their own opportunity to score with runners on first and third and no outs in the fourth inning. After consecutive singles by Willy Adames and Rafael Devers, Osleivis Basabe struck out.
Then, Drew Gilbert hit a fly ball to right field, one that looked deep enough to score the runner from third. But McKinstry unleashed a strike to home plate...
