What we learned as Landen Roupp, Giants bats flat in another loss to Rockies

SAN FRANCISCO — If there is, or was, an ideal get-right series for Giants teams of years past, it’s the Colorado Rockies. Any time, any place.

However, even the National League’s worst has given San Francisco (50-72) problems throughout the 2026 MLB season.

It’s not that Colorado is that much better, the Giants are just that much worse.

San Francisco, who had plenty of ownage over the Rockies (49-73) in recent years to the tune of a combined 30-9 record from 2023-2025, were just 5-5 against their NL West division rival in 2026 entering Friday’s game at Oracle Park.

Giants right-handed pitcher Landen Roupp (L, 5 2/3 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K) toed the rubber for Friday’s three-game series-opener, facing off against Colorado lefty Kyle Freeland (W, 8 IP, 4 H, ER, 2 K).

And only one starter, and lineup, appeared motivated to avoid creeping closer to the league’s worst record.
