SAN FRANCISCO — Something is not right, and Landen Roupp knows it. The young Giants starting pitcher was left searching for answers yet again after an underwhelming start in Friday’s 5-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies at Oracle Park.
Roupp cruised through the first three frames before surrendering runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings, but he still looked solid after recording the first out in the top of the sixth.
Then, a walk to Connor Norby, followed by a booming two-run home run by Zac Veen into McCovey Cove gave Colorado a 4-1 lead and completely changed Roupp’s outing.
“I felt good the whole time,” Roupp said postgame. “I think I really only made one bad pitch, and it really wasn’t even that bad of a pitch, to Veen there. Just got to stop walking people, I think that’s the common theme here is when I’m walking guys, they tend to score. Just got to pitch to contact and get outs.”
