SAN FRANCISCO — If the Giants stay ahead of the Colorado Rockies in the NL West standings, it is not something they will tout in the offseason. Just the fact that this is even a discussion point in August is something they would prefer to permanently forget.
But this season is what it is, and finishing fourth would be better than fifth. They helped themselves in that department on Saturday.
The teams were separated by a game after Friday night, but the Giants cruised to a 7-1 win behind a normal day from Logan Webb and a big one from Drew Gilbert.
