Wilkinson, acquired in the Patrick Bailey trade, was a 10th-round pick out of junior college and has allowed just 59 hits in 90 innings this season while striking out 96.

— Jeff Passan (@JeffPassan) August 17, 2026 Wilkinson was acquired from the Cleveland Guardians in the Patrick Bailey trade on May 9, and in 13 combined starts with the Giants’ Double- and Triple-A teams, Wilkinson posted a 4.13 ERA with 59 strikeouts and 18 walks in 56 2/3 innings pitched.

The 23-year-old now has a chance to make his MLB debut against none other than the Guardians, the team that selected him in the 10th round of the 2023 MLB Draft and developed him for two-plus seasons before the mid-season trade to the Giants.
