Giants manager Tony Vitello was ejected for the second time in three days during San Francisco’s 10-6 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday at Oracle Park. After the game, Vitello shared the bizarre reason he believes he was ejected by home plate umpire Alan Porter for arguing a dubious fair ball call in the third inning.
“I pointed out that I thought it was a foul ball,” Vitello told reporters. “Part of that’s based off everything that’s going on in the dugout around me, and [Porter] didn’t like that I didn’t go out on the field to argue it.”
The broadcast appeared to show Vitello was ejected before leaving the Giants’ dugout, which would corroborate his interpretation of the odd saga. Tony Vitello AND Logan Webb were ejected from tonight's game pic.twitter.com/CojgNyyrbl
