BOX SCORESAN FRANCISCO — The emotional ejections from Friday’s game appeared to have carried over into the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader between the Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks.
Ron Wotus was tossed from the game before the first pitch was even thrown. Sometimes that can light a fire for teams. Sometimes not.
Spoiler alert: It did not for the Giants — at least their offense — as they fell to the Diamondbacks 5-1 in Game 1.
Matt “Tugboat” Wilkinson made his Oracle Park debut after pitching his first two MLB games on the road. And boy, did he put on a show in front of his home crowd.
Wilkinson tossed six innings, allowed three hits and two runs (both earned), and struck out four.
