SAN FRANCISCO — Yunior Marte was emotional coming off the mound after his dominant MLB debut on Saturday, and for good reason.The 23-year-old right-handed pitcher allowed three hits, one earned run and two walks, and struck out three through 4 2/3 innings to put the Giants in good position for their 7-2 win in Game 2 of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Oracle Park.
The NBC Sports Bay Area TV broadcast cut to his family and friends, who held on tight to a Dominican flag as they, too, celebrated Marte’s debut with great pride and joy. A few hours later, Marte walked into the Giants’ clubhouse with a scorecard and a couple of game balls, which he shared will be dedicated to someone special to him.
