For the third time in 10 days, Giants manager Tony Vitello was ejected on Saturday. And for the second time, there was a confusing reasoning behind it.In the second inning of San Francisco’s 9-5 win over the New York Mets at Citi Field, Turner Hill appeared to be hit by a pitch on his hand. However, home plate umpire Jeremie Rehak ruled the ball hit Hill’s bat instead, so Vitello challenged the call.
After a replay review from the league office, the dubious call on the field stood. Naturally, Vitello didn’t look thrilled with that decision, so he called out at the umpires from the Giants’ dugout.
Upon entering the field, seemingly looking for some sort of explanation, Vitello was ejected for the sixth time of the 2026 MLB season. Tony Vitello was ejected for arguing after the replay review ruled Turner Hill wasn't hit by a pitch and instead fouled the ball off pic.twitter.com/4cOMweANg5
