Was Sunday the day the Giants finally would get it done?
Nope.
San Francisco (59-85) had not won a series on the road since mid-June entering Sunday’s series finale against the New York Mets (65-78) at Citi Field, and once again, had an opportunity to end the months-long streak.
The Giants sent lefty Cesar Perdomo (ND, 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K) to the mound against Mets righty Christian Scott (ND, 4 2/3 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K), and both starting pitchers pitched well through the first three innings before San Francisco opened the scoring.
With two outs and runners on first and second in the top of the fourth inning, Jung Hoo Lee blooped a single into shallow right field that scored both Bryce Eldridge and Jonah Cox first second and first, respectively, and gave San Francisco a 2-0 lead.
