SAN FRANCISCO — It happened quietly, because any talk of the MLB playoffs has seemed foolish in San Francisco for several months, but the Giants were officially eliminated from the postseason race over the weekend. They didn’t need to be told it happened. When you’re 25 games under .500, that kind of thing really doesn’t matter.
What might matter a little — at least as far as vibes are concerned — is avoiding 100 losses. The Giants continued to take a step in that direction on their first night back home.
