SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants took all three games they played in Atlanta this season, but because the third one was delayed because of weather, MLB doesn’t officially count it as a sweep. On Wednesday, they’ll have another chance at sweeping a three-game series, this time at home.
Two early homers held up in a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals, who had plenty of chances to break through but couldn’t get the big hit. The Giants will send Blade Tidwell to the mound Wednesday in search of a third straight.
For a second consecutive night, the Giants got an early lead thanks to a cornerstone left-handed bat. On Monday, it was Rafael Devers who put them up early. A night later, Bryce Eldridge hit a solo homer with two outs in the bottom of the first.
Christian Koss added a solo blast in the second, and that was more than enough for Landen Roupp and a bullpen that is mixing and matching on a daily basis.
