SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants finally got their official three-game sweep, and they did it the hard way.
A lineup filled with Sacramento River Cats and without star Rafael Devers scored six runs in the eighth, getting a 7-6 win over the St. Louis Cardinals, who had command of the game all afternoon.
The sweep was the first at Oracle Park this season and first official one on their 2026 schedule. They took three games from the Atlanta Braves, but because that series finale was delayed by a rainout, MLB did not officially consider it a three-game sweep.
For a third straight day, the Giants scored in the first inning, and for a second straight day, it was Bryce Eldridge who got it done. Eldridge followed Drew Gilbert’s hustle double with an opposite-field single, giving the Giants an early 1-0 lead.
For the next six innings it was all Cardinals, with Blade Tidwell getting knocked out in the fifth inning. The Giants got their crowd back into it in the eighth, though. A single, hit-by-pitch and walk loaded the bases with two outs for Eldridge, who drove in a pair with a seeing-eye single. Jonah Cox followed with a slow roller...
