The bright spot for the Giants organization is the youth. The season has been bleak as a whole, but the talent within the farm system has been encouraging to see.Baseball America gave the Giants’ minor-league system an A+ grade. The only other organization to earn an A+ this year was the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Giants have a plethora of players who contributed to their impressive minor-league grade. Bryce Eldridge, a top prospect entering this season, has been fun to watch in the middle of the order. Other key graduations during this season included RHP Caleb Kilian, C Daniel Susac, C Jesus Rodriguez, and RHP Dylan Smith.
Kilian was dealt to the Philadelphia Phillies back on Aug. 3, but Susac proved he has a chance to be the starting catcher in San Francisco for years to come. In 161 at-bats, he hit .243 with a .664 OPS.
Rodriguez showed flashes at the plate this year but struggled when he was thrown into the outfield. Catcher definitely is his natural position. Smith has been great out of the bullpen at times, but his ERA currently sits at 3.50 with four blown saves.
