SAN FRANCISCO — One of the strangest parts of this Giants season is their winning record against the three teams that will win divisions in the National League, and a new-look group kept it close for most of Friday night’s game at Dodger Stadium. But in the eighth, a home run derby broke out.
The Los Angeles Dodgers hit four homers in the eighth and ended up with an 8-2 win. The Giants clinched their 90th loss of the season.
Early on, it looked like it would be a long night for the Giants. César Perdomo grooved a fastball two pitches into the game and Mookie Betts hit a leadoff blast, but Perdomo settled in from there, allowing just one more run in 4 2/3 innings.
The Giants got the run back on a Jung Hoo Lee solo blast and then took the lead on a single by Jonah Cox, who has upped his stock more than anyone in this strange second half.
