Top outfield prospect Bo Davidson was called up and will start in right field Monday night, and deadline acquisition Marcelo Mayer will be the DH in his Giants debut.
The two young players take the spots of Bryce Eldridge (concussion) and Jung Hoo Lee (groin contusion). Both are going on the IL, meaning the Giants are without a single member of their Opening Day lineup. Lee was the last man standing before a poorly placed foul tip knocked him out of Sunday’s game.
Davidson, 24, went undrafted out of Caldwell Community College and signed with the Giants in 2023. The rise since has been meteoric, and Davidson entered this season as Baseball America’s No. 87 prospect.
