A familiar scene unfolded in the fourth inning of the Giants’ game against the Minnesota Twins on Monday night at Oracle Park.With the Giants leading 4-1, right-hander Blade Tidwell, who had tossed 3 1/3 frames of one-run ball, threw a sweeper for a ball to Ryan Jeffers and immediately signaled to the dugout that something was wrong. — SF Giants on NBCS (@NBCSGiants) September 22, 2026 Tidwell’s exit marked the third time in less than a month that a Giants starting pitcher has left a game early due to injury — Carson Whisenhunt sustained a torn UCL on Aug. 24 and underwent Tommy John surgery, and Adrian Houser suffered a right forearm strain the very next day but avoided surgery.
And on July 20, Trevor McDonald left the game after warming up in the fifth inning with an injury that ended up requiring Tommy John surgery, too.
