Los Angeles had 34 IL placements, totaling 2,318 days. They had 37 in 2025 before getting healthy in time for their second consecutive World Series championship run.
San Francisco had the biggest increase in IL days from last season compared to the rest of the league, with a slew of pitcher injuries contributing to the stat.
Notable players that endured lengthy IL stints this season include right-handed pitchers Hayden Birdsong, Randy Rodriguez, Rowan Wick, Jose Butto, Joel Peguero and Jason Foley and left-handed pitcher Matt Gage, outfielder Harrison Bader and infielder Casey Schmitt, among others.
Injuries affected the entire league, not just the Giants. Last season, MLB had a total of 44,372 IL days while this season, that number increased to 47,699.
