Matt Cain often played golf while growing up inTennessee. He would join his dad, Tom , at any number of public courses, or anine-hole country club down the road from their home. Cain still spent more time flinging baseballs than smacking golfballs - clearly a shrewd career choice. Before long, he waspitching in the major leagues, tossing 21 1/3 postseason inningswithout allowing an earned run, and helping the Giants win their first World Seriestitle in San Francisco. Even so, stepping atop the mound in the Series did little toprepare Cain for his next sporting quest - stepping on the No. 1tee in next week's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
