CLEARWATER, Fla. - It was a rare show of emotion by the Phillies' stoic second baseman. Chase Utley had just been hit in the back by a 2-0 fastball fromSan Francisco's Jonathan Sanchez that October night, and, as hetook his first two steps out of the batter's box on his way tofirst base, the ball took one bounce and landed in his right hand.Utley sent an underhand flip back to the mound, eliciting a stareand some nasty words from the Giants pitcher. An inquisitive Utley asked Sanchez to repeat what he had saidand then took two steps toward the mound. Both benches and bullpensemptied for what turned into nothing more than a heated discussionbetween the teams.
