Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner reared back to throw a pitchagainst the A's on Saturday, recognized his mechanics were "out ofwhack" and corrected it on the next pitch. It sounds simple, butit's not. Throughout his young baseball life, Bumgarner just climbed themound and pitched, paying little attention to where his arms, legsand hips were. Last spring, for the first time, they were all overthe place, and he had no idea how to fix it. Ultimately he did, andhis journey served as a valuable reminder that failure can be thebest breeding ground for success.
