It took awhile, but the Giants returned home Friday nightand unpacked the heavy baggage of a tepid, fitful road trip with astirring 4-3 comeback walkoff victory over Colorado. When the Rockies struck for three early runs against Matt Cainand Giants hitters let struggling andwinless starter Ubaldo Jimenez off the hook several times in theearly innings, things didn't look promising for the opening game ofa three-game weekend series against the NL West frontrunners. But the Giants chipped away with a run inthe sixth, tied the game in the bottom of the eighth on a hugetwo-out double by Nate Schierholtz, then won it in the bottom ofthe ninth on a rally ignited by last year's postseason poster boy,Cody Ross.
