As the Giants' head trainer described thedamage to Buster Posey's left leg, playing catcher on the limbanytime in the next year sounded excruciating, if notimpossible. Posey has a fractured lower leg bone, the fibula, and three tornligaments in the ankle. Imagine squatting for hours daily on thatjoint. The ligaments don't appear to require re-attachment, trainerDave Groeschner said, but Posey may have to undergo surgery toinsert a pin that stabilizes the ankle. Envision that, and thenthink about jumping out of a squat 100 times a game.
Position change may be necessary
