SAN FRANCISCO The Giants organized early battingpractice Tuesday afternoon, hoping to address the many issues withtheir limp offense. The Minnesota Twins opted for some earlyhitting, too. But they waited until Madison Bumgarner threw the firstpitch. The Twins didn't just take Bumgarner to showers. A woodshedwould be more appropriate. Bumgarner faced 10 batters and retiredonly pitcher Carl Pavano, becoming the first player in baseball'smodern era to allow as many as nine hits while recording fewer thantwo outs in a 9-2 loss to the Twins at AT&T Park. The litany of the eight-run inning: Single, double, single, double, single, double, single, double, strikeout, double. Itsounded like Arthur Murray dance instructions. It ended up withBumgarner trodden underfoot.
