In one of the most significant midseason acquisitions in recentfranchise history, the Giants acquired Beltran, a six-timeAll-Star, from the New York Mets in exchange for top pitchingprospect Zach Wheeler. The Mets also are picking up roughly $4million of the $6 million owed to Beltran the remainder of theseason. The deal was not yet official because it was pending theofficial waiver of Beltran's no-trade provision as well as leagueapproval over the finances of the transaction.
