Surkamp makes his pitch to stick around awhile;GIANTS 2, ASTROS 1 10

It's a little premature to get caught up in Surkamp-mania andsuggest we're seeing the next Madison Bumgarner. Eric Surkamp istwo years older. And four years older than Bumgarner was on Sept.6, 2009, when Bumgarner debuted as a highly touted 20-year-old. Still, the Giants were absolutely thrilled withSurkamp's performance Saturday night. Yes, he had first-gamejitters. Yes, his second pitch made a few fans behind the backstopflinch. But the lefty yielding one run on six hits and three walkshad a 1.50 ERA to show for his first six innings in the bigleagues.
